1945 – Umbria Olii begins as: “Oleifici Del Papa” – Market: traditional demand of local oils – Policy: sale of oil from local production in bottles and demijohns.

1969 – Change of company policy: Industrial production of oils with construction of a refinery plant and change of the company name to “Umbria Olii Srl” (Currently one of the main refineries in europe) – Markets: pressing and rising demand of industrial use of oil from cannery industries for tuna, products in oil, etc. – Policy: to produce and sell large quantities of good quality oil for leading companies in the cannery field and for other packers of oil.

1990 – Further changes in the company policy in response to basic changes in the oil market: Market: the oil demand from the cannery field decreases, but the growth of olive oil consumption in the world emerges and establishes itself. Policy: to utilize the company’ s economic and productive strength, by expanding into a more broad market approach.

The refinery will produce and guarantee the quality of its olive oils to Umbria Olii according to strict specifications.

1994 – Umbria olii changes its legal position and becomes “Umbria Olii S.P.A.” Nominal capital, Fully paid up, to eur 1.549.370,70. Markets: continued growth of olive oil consumption in the world for the for-seable future. Policy: to use the economic strength of the company to solidify its position as a leader in the olive oil industry, achieved until now.

1997 – It has been established “I.S.I. Spa, Industria Saponiera Italiana”, a company specialized in the processing of oleins from olive oil in order to produce high quality vegetal soap.

1999 – Umbria Olii Spa increased its nominal capital, fully paid up, to eur 10.845.594,88. It has been established “Umbria Olii U.S.A., Inc”, which deals umbria olii’s products in usa market.

2000 – Business volume: eur 51.700.000 Of which eur 23.240.000 abroad.Leader in usa food service market. Umbria Olii Spa takes over the control of “Compagnia Alimentare Italiana Spa ”, company specialized in the production of spiced oils, condiments, sauces and pasta. Turnover: eur 10.300.000 per year.

2001 – Business volume: eur 53.700.000 Of which Eur 24.165.000 Abroad.

2002 – Business volume: eur 64.500.000 Of which Eur 25.800.000 Abroad.

2003 – Business volume: eur 65.000.000 Of which Eur 27.000.000 Abroad.

2004 – Business volume: eur 74.000.000 Of which Eur 34.000.000 Abroad. Inside Umbria Olii’s group it has been established a new company, called “Olivella" , for Marketing and development of derived products from olive oil (bar soap, liquid soap and cosmetic products like moisturizer oils, hand and body creams) under own private label.

2005 – Business volume: eur 80.000.000 Of which Eur 41.000.000 Abroad.

2008 – It has been established a new storage plant (Stock Sinergy) of 9 tanks of 750 m³ each in Civitavecchia Port, Rome, dock 24.

2009 – All the Umbria Olii Spa divisions (industry, packaging plant, warehouses and brands) are incorporated in Umbria Olii International srl

2010 – It has been established a New Company in USA, Umbria Olii International USA, Inc.

2012 – It has been established a new storage plant (Stock Sinergy) of 12 tanks of 750 m³ each in Motril Port, Spain.

2014 – Umbria Olii International srl changes its legal position and becomes “Umbria Olii International S.P.A.” Policy: to use the economic strength of the company to solidify its position as a leader in the olive oil industry, achieved until now.

2018 - As a main shareholder, Umbria Olii International has been investing in developing the Largest Organic Olive Farm of Italy

The Art of Refining

Refining can be obtained via two different processes at Umbria Olii International S.P.A: physical and chemical (Patented Technology). The Daily Production of our Refinery Capacity is 180-200 metric tons per day for the Physical Process. 100 / 200 metric tons per day for the Chemical Process . Every single step & cycle is thoroughly analysed by our team of Analysis in our state of the art lab to assure the Quality and freshness. The refining cycle works 24 hours a day, 365 days a Year. The refining cycle is particularly respectful of the environment.


The Art of Blending

The majority of olive oils are a blend of many different varieties. In particular, Extra Virgin olive oil greatly differs in taste. Finding the right balance between sweet and peppery, bold and light requires knowledge and skills. Blending is the result of perfectioning this art of finding different flavours to create the perfect taste. Our aim is to foster the progress of real research and delevopment in the bleding process. Our studies started over 70 years ago and were passed from generation to generation to share its value with the world.
